★Lesson 126：　Looking forward the Spring　（春を待ちわびて）

こう寒い日が続くと、春が待ち遠しいですね

子： Look mom!　ママ、見て！

 

 Cherry blossoms!　桜だよ
母： …Where?　どこ？
子： Over there!　あそこ！
  Can you see the flowers on that tree?　あの木に咲いてる花が見えない？
母： I can.　あれね
  But that’s not a cherry blossom.　あれは桜じゃないのよ
  That’s a plum blossom.　梅の花よ
  It’s a little bit early for cherry blossoms.　桜には少し早いわね
　

　
子： So when do cherry blossom start blooming?　桜はいつ咲き始めるの？
母： The middle of next month, I guess.　来月半ばだと思うよ
子： I can’t wait!　待てないよ！
母： You can do nothing about it.　どうする事もできないわよ
  Why can’t you enjoy the plum?　梅を楽しんだらどう？
子： How?　どうやって？
母： Take a deep breath.　深く息を吸ってごらん
  …Can’t you smell it?　におわない？
  I love the scent of plum.　梅の薫り大好き
