★Lesson 123：　Torrential Downpour　（ゲリラ豪雨）

ゲリラ豪雨…翻訳サイトはGuerrilla heavy rainと教えてくれましたが、そうはいいません。
(torrential) downpourがふさわしいようです。今日は雨の日の注意点を子供達と話しましょう。

子： What’s the weather like today, mum/dad?　今日の天気は何？
親： It’s going to rain this afternoon.　午後から雨よ
子： Again?!　また？！
  I’m tired of the rain.　雨はうんざり
親： Me too, but there’s nothing we can do.　そうね、でもどうしようもないわ
  It’s still the rainy season.　まだ梅雨だもの
子： But it doesn’t seem it’s going to rain.　雨ふりそうにないよ
親： You can’t say that.　そうとも言えないわよ
  We might be caught in a (torrential) downpour.　ゲリラ豪雨にあうかも

親： It means a terribly heavy rain that starts suddenly.　
  突然降り出す大雨の事よ
  So what are you supposed to do when it starts raining?
  雨が降り始めたらどうするんだった？
子： Stay away from a river or a channel.　川や用水路から離れる
親： And stay away from a river if you heard thunder even if it’s not raining.
  雨が降ってなくても雷鳴を聞いたら川から離れてね
子： Yes, mum/dad.　はい
親： And come up if you’re in the underground.　地下にいたら地上に上がって
子： I’m a little bit scared.?　ちょっと怖いな
親： Don’t worry, if you’re at school follow what your teacher says.
