夏休みです！大好きなお爺さんとお婆さんに会いにきました

子： Hi, Grandpa!　お爺ちゃん！
  Hi, Grandma!　お婆ちゃん！
爺： I missed you, Ora.　会いたかったよ
子： I missed you, too.　私も
婆： Come and give me a big hug!　こっちへ来て抱きしめて
子： I love you, Grandma.　お婆ちゃん大好き
婆： I love you, too.　お婆ちゃんもだよ
  Would you like some watermelon?　スイカ食べるかい？
子： Yes, please.　うん
  ※何かいるか聞かれた時は、‘Yes, please.’ ‘No, thank you.’と言いましょうね
  Can I have watermelon on the verandah?　縁側で食べてもいい？
婆： Of course.　もちろん


　
子： Ooh! What’s this noise?　わぁ！この騒音なに？
爺：
It’s not a noise.　騒音じゃないよ
  Cicadas.　蝉だよ
子： It’s too noisy!　うるさ過ぎるよ
爺： Don’t say that.　そう言わないの
  Cicadas have waited for this summer in the ground for 7 years.
  蝉はこの夏を７年も土の中で待ってたんだ
子： Seven years in the ground?　土の中に７年？
爺： Yes, and they can live only for 7 days. そして７日しか生きられないんだ
婆： So let them sing.　だから歌わせてあげなさい
子： Are they singing?　歌を歌っているの？
婆： Yes, they’re singing summer songs.　そう、夏の歌を歌っているんだよ
